In the age of Facebook, Tinder, and Grindr, the digital screen has become the primary relational interface. Equal parts window and barrier, the screen functions as an active mediator of social, cultural, and historical agency.
Artists Joel Swanson and Steven Frost will present an interactive installation that explores socially mediated relationships through the structure of speed-dating. Participants will interact with screen-mediated personalities built from neural-net algorithms that have been raised in captivity and hand feed textual detritus scavenged from the Internet.
