[ CANCELED ] One Million Steps (Wearables + Hike)

CANCELED:

Unfortunately, the weather tomorrow is going to rain us out! We are going to CANCEL the event to avoid trail damage. We'd still love to hear from Frank Overton, and get our wearable tech conversations on, so let's try again on Friday if weather permits. I'll followup with an email later this week with details.

 ===

Join the Health and Adventure Tracks as they kickoff a week-long exercise competition. Bring your wearable tech and get ready to rack up some high scores, starting with a group hike up the beautiful Chautauqua trail. Prizes at the end of the week for the most active achievers.

We'll have Frank Overton, Founder of FasCat, joining us and leading a wearables discussion prior to the hike. Perhaps the first wearable tech device he used (way back in 2001) was actually a rideable device, the powermeter which measures a cyclist's power output. What horsepower is to a car, power output is to a cyclist and Frank used his science background to apply this emerging field of sport science to making FasCat Athletes faster.

More about Frank:
Before Frank caught the cycling bug he was going to go to medical school. Post college he spent two years researching nerve regeneration in spinal cord injuries at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. However, during grad school (Physiology, continuing to studying spinal cord injuries) the pull of the mountain bike and Colorado was strong.  So he moved to Boulder to race bikes and work in biotech. One patent and a unfavorable clinical trial later, Frank started his own company to coach cyclists and race his bike at a professional level.

Boulder Geek Jam
Limited Capacity seats available

We are a group of hard-core techies who also like to jam. We've been casually gathering every Tuesday night for impromptu jam sessions in the Gorilla Logic office on Pearl Street and recently decided that we wanted to open up the space and the music-making opportunity to all our Boulder (and other nearby) neighbors who wish to join and collaborate on some good music, geek talk, and drinks/food. We've got all the gear: instruments, speakers, recording capabilities, (and other nerdy, super techie and geeky gadgets) to make it a fun time, guaranteed--now all we need is YOU! This will also be happening during the Startup Crawl so we'll have lots of folks jamming out with us! Feel free to bring your instrument of choice too!

Boulder Golf: Biking With the Big Shots
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

These days, networking can take on all kinds of creative forms, and one of the most popular around Boulder is biking. Nicknamed "the new golf" for the high-level connections that can be made between people in spandex, biking is a great opportunity to chat with some of thebig shots around town, as long as you can keep up on the hills! This ride will be around 20 or 30 miles and is designed for people who have some previous experience on a road bike. Company founders, management, and executives will be attending, along with venture capitalists and professional cyclists and our Boulder Startup/Professional bike racing community.

Join Jay Ferrecane aka @AngryBovine and Rachel Beisel aka @MissBikesAlot for Happy Hour at West Flanders afterwards and don't forget to bring business cards in your spandex pockets. We'll be meeting there at 2PM for a mid-day, spandex-clad happy hour. Lite apps and a few pitchers of beer on startup week.

The ride will depart from Spruce Confections at 767 Pearl Street in downtown Boulder sharply at noon. Must wear a helmet - got to protect that noggin'. Please observe the rules of the road!
